Training Course
Syllabus:
Sufferers of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) live confused and anxious lives everyday. Many have been undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or given ineffective treatment. Some have isolated themselves in shame, believing they must be crazy and there is no hope for improvement. Families have become embarrassed, hide their family secret and then also become enmeshed in the rituals of the OCD victim.
Participants in this seminar will learn to identify the signals that suggest the diagnosis of OCD, as well as the steps necessary to make a formal diagnosis. Ms. Vitek will present extensive insight into the cognitive processes of these individuals as she explains the different varieties of OCD. Treatment will be discussed, from the view of the patient, family and others who may become involved, such as school personnel, employers and social acquaintances. The treatment and diagnosis of OCD is often complicated by the presence of other disorders, so comorbid conditions will also be covered in this seminar.
