PROGRAM DETAILS
"Improperly providing services to improve and maintain residents´ well-being" is the most frequently cited deficiency in long-term care. Deficiencies and fines have risen by 25 percent. Federal regulators are releasing the names of poor performing facilities. Furthermore, the health care industry is moving toward a national electronic medical record policy. The first Federal Interpretive Guidelines specifically for Tag F248 and Tag F249 have been implemented and designed to prevent negative psychosocial practices. Surveyors will now be aggressively reviewing these laws to ensure their implementation in your facility. To meet the psychosocial survey standards, your staff needs to be aware of the recent research on providing services to the growing number of residents with dementia.
Join us at this seminar where an experienced professional will show you how to use the changes in the survey process and new MDS 3.0 data to your
facility's advantage. Rita Spak, a 30-year professional in activities and therapeutic recreation, will give you effective program approaches that tie directly to what is expected in the new CMS approach to assessing resident "quality of life." Also, as one of the few nationally certified instructors for the dementia practitioner certification program, Rita will be discussing the special needs of our dementia population. Improving communication skills and programs for low functioning residents will also be addressed. The new Psychosocial Severity Guide for rating nursing home deficiencies will be discussed in detail. The effective documentation of services to substantiate their effectiveness and lead into an interdisciplinary approach will be demonstrated. An update of the MDS 3.0 will be provided, as well as adequate discussion of recent changes in the survey process. Time will be allotted for problem-solving for addressing your individual facility difficulties. This presentation will be time well spent for even the most experienced activity professional and anyone involved in the Quality of Life of residents in long-term care facilities.
