Obesity and Binge Eating Disorder:
Diagnosing and Treating with an Integrative Approach
PROGRAM DETAILS
The Anchor Process® is a unique, integrative medicine approach and is a
roadmap for clinicians that offers new skills and tools to use in treating
obesity safely and effectively. This approach uses a five-step method that
identifies points of resistance and core beliefs that stand in the way of weight
loss and, more importantly, weight maintenance. The evaluation for bariatric
surgery will be discussed along with the special needs of the obese binge eating
client. This approach goes beyond dieting to identify and heal deeper causes of
weight gain and the beliefs that support them. The Anchor Process® helps the
obese individual literally shift from the psychological mindset that supports
his or her obesity to one that is in line with a conscious commitment to health
and well-being.
This seminar uses a combination of experiential exercises, lecture and small
group work to teach the philosophy behind integrative approaches to obesity and
specific techniques that you can use in your practice. You will be able to
experience and practice these proven strategies to enhance your understanding
and ability to support the recovery and deeper healing of your obese clients.
You will also have the opportunity to discuss difficult cases with Dr. Ross, who
has been described as a pioneer in the use of integrative medicine for the
treatment of eating disorders, including obesity.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Feel completely comfortable using the five steps of the Anchor Process® to
lower client resistance, uncover unconscious beliefs that sabotage weight loss
and remove blocks to recovery
Learn to use nutritional approaches, including dietary supplements, to
break the diet habit
Understand how complementary and alternative medicine modalities can be a
significant tool for the treatment of obesity and binge eating disorder
Take home resources on what supplements you can discuss with your obese
clients to reduce carb craving, improve digestion and support mood
Recognize how to apply these techniques in difficult cases
Discuss evidence about the efficacy of the most popular diet programs
Outline an integrative nutritional approach to obesity
Identify the five steps of the Anchor Process® to lower resistance and
identify roadblocks to weight loss and maintenance
Understand the benefits and risks of bariatric surgery
