PROGRAM DETAILS
Many massage therapists enter the profession out of the desire to help
people, to have a flexible schedule or because of dissatisfaction with the
psychological and time demands of their previous profession. Unfortunately, the
curricula in massage schools allow very little time for the ancillary skills and
knowledge required to operate a massage business. Students graduate with basic
skills in giving a massage and almost no tools to manage the time that, upon
graduation, has become their inventory. Many massage practitioners are
uninformed about the requirements of municipal, county, state and federal
governments. Practitioners need knowledge about wide-ranging issues from sexual
harassment to a privilege license for a soda machine. As a therapist and/or
business manager, it is absolutely crucial to understand the legal and ethical
environments of massage therapy and bodywork and to have a plan for making the
business work for you. What better advice to take than from a massage therapist
with more than 30 years of experience who has made a million dollars with his
own hands!
This course will focus on the legal and ethical guidelines of massage therapy
practice as well as business and marketing strategies that lead to financial
success. Joel Tull, Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and entrepreneur,
will guide you through issues that, when first examined, appear to be black and
white but ultimately have many shades of gray. Using concrete examples from his
30-plus years of experience in the field, Joel will introduce new insights into
the real costs of unethical practices, as well as provide practical marketing
and business development strategies that work. Joel's fun, interactive and
entertaining presentation style is sure to make for an enjoyable day while you
gain invaluable information to help make the most of your practice and
profession.
