American Management Association is a world leader in professional development, advancing the skills of individuals to drive business success.

Challenging situations require a trusted partner.

AMA’s approach to improving performance combines experiential learning—“learning through doing”—with opportunities for ongoing professional growth at every step of one’s career journey. AMA supports the goals of individuals and organizations through a complete range of products and services, including seminars, Webcasts and podcasts, conferences, corporate and government solutions, business books and research.

Organizations worldwide, including the majority of the Fortune 500, turn to AMA as their trusted partner in professional development and draw upon its experience to enhance skills, abilities and knowledge with noticeable results from day one.

Why training?
Today, companies are constantly looking to do more with less in order to keep up with—and outpace—change and competition. Responsibilities may increase at a moment’s notice and require different or greater skills. That’s why training has never been more critical for advancing careers and achieving organizational success. Ongoing learning enables managers to continuously enhance their professional and personal development and increase their value to their organizations.

Our History

American Management Association traces its origins back to 1913 with the founding of the National Association of Corporation Schools (later to become the National Association of Corporation Training). By 1922, this group had merged with the Industrial Relations Association of America (founded in 1918 as the National Association of Employment Managers), to form the National Personnel Association. In 1923, the group chose a new name, American Management Association, to better reflect its mission and goals.

In 1973, AMA consolidated five closely related national associations—all dedicated to management education—into one organization. With this consolidation, the Regents of the University of the State of New York granted recognition to AMA as an educational institution.

World-Class Curriculums
AMA’s course curriculums incorporate best-in-business thinking and practices and are designed for all organizational levels. Covering the full range of competencies in all business functions, they include seminars in communication, finance, human resources, information technology, leadership, management, marketing, project management, sales and strategic planning—and can be delivered through public seminars or on-site programs and as customized learning solutions.

Broad Availability
AMA disseminates its proven content and skill-enhancing programs through channels that are most responsive to individual and corporate needs, such as traditional and virtual classrooms, conferences and events and print and electronic media (including MWorld, the journal of the American Management Association).

World Renowned Faculty
AMA seminars, conferences and briefings are led by senior executives, managers, authors, educators, consultants, even CEOs. They’re not only skilled platform speakers, but top business practitioners who have been in the trenches—and who bring their distinctive insights and practical, real-world experience to every learning encounter.
