Training Course Syllabus:
This is a hands-on practical workshop in using workflow and state machine models to describe business workflow – the sequencing of events - on an IT project. Students step through a complex real-life case study, learning not only how to draw the diagrams but how and when to effectively use the techniques during a projects’ life cycle. Students learn how to use workflow diagrams to model existing systems, to consolidate varying viewpoints during JAD sessions, to define business use cases, to supplement the documentation of system use cases and to define business class operations. The course focuses on the most popular diagrams for indicating workflow: UML activity diagrams (with and without swimlanes), state diagrams, collaboration diagram as well as the IDEF workflow conventions developed by the military.
