Training Course Syllabus:

Sales and Use Tax In Louisiana   (2/2/2016)

Get up to speed on the latest Louisiana sales and use tax and be prepared for upcoming changes in 2016.

Louisiana consistently ranks towards the bottom of most national rankings for tax climate and ranks 50th in the nation as it relates specifically to sales tax. Moreover, Louisiana’s budget shortfalls over the last few years have brought sales tax reform to the forefront. In 2016, Louisiana will swear-in a new Governor along with several newly elected state representatives and senators. Not surprisingly, tax reform will again be at the top of the legislature’s action items.

Discuss the current tax climate for Louisiana and its parishes, recent law changes, current hot topics and court cases, and anticipated tax reform topics that will be debated during the upcoming legislative sessions. Receive best practice guidance on how taxpayers can better work with state and parish tax administrations to reduce audit risk. By obtaining a better understanding of Louisiana’s tax climate, the participant will acquire the knowledge to better identify, navigate, and adapt to taxing issues and tax compliance. The adverse effects of a lack of understanding of Louisiana’s tax climate could result in lost opportunity for tax planning and/or possible tax exposure, including incidental audit expenses such as interest, penalties, and audit costs.
