Units
Q: Can I Earn Professional Accreditation Credits from AMA Seminars?
A: Yes, AMA seminars qualify for Continuing Education Units. Some seminars
also qualify for specific accreditations read on for details.
Q: What are Continuing Education Units (CEUs)?
A: Through the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) system, you receive formal
recognition for improving your management skills by completing AMA seminars.
Under the CEU system, one unit is awarded for completion of ten hours of
participation in an organized continuing education experience that provides
responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction. All of
AMA’s seminars qualify for CEUs.
When you earn CEUs, you receive immediate recognition for your career
development efforts. A CEU Certificate suitable for framing will be presented to
you upon satisfactory completion of the AMA seminar you have attended. You will
also have a permanent, confidential record of accomplishments kept by AMA.
Providing us with your Social Security number each time you attend a seminar
enables us to update your record on an ongoing basis.
The CEU System:
Allows you to build a permanent record of achievement as you take part in
education or training to further your career.
Provides a means for showing supervisors, personnel officers and others an
official summary of seminars you have completed as part of your preparation for
wider responsibilities and higher level positions.
Offers a means for giving official confirmation of your completion of
continuing professional education courses and seminars to certification bodies,
licensing boards and professional societies.
Q: How many CEUs do I earn for my seminar?
A: The number of CEU credits is indicated at the bottom of your seminar
description Web page. This number corresponds to the number of contact hours
involved. You earn one credit for every ten hours of instruction.
Q: How can I get a CEU transcript?
A: You will receive a CEU Certificate without charge after successful
completion of each qualifying AMA seminar.
After you have completed several such programs, you may want to have an official
transcript of your cumulative CEU record. This will show the titles, dates and
number of CEUs each AMA seminar you have completed since the CEU system was
adopted in January 1974. A transcript will be issued only at the personal
request of the individual whose record it contains. To obtain a transcript, or
to authorize sending one to someone else, call 1-800-349-1935.
